I’ve had a fantastic week working with Happystorm Theatre Production Company (http://www.happystormtheatre.co.uk/) producing a number of films working with my peers from Salford Uni and a number of participants who have been through prison and/ or probation services.

The narrative of one of the short films we devised was based on the life of one of our participants and dealt with very difficult themes such as domestic violence and mental health issues.

Originally I was meant to be one of the crew but I volunteered to play the role of Mia. I found it vital that I should give an accurate portrayal of this character and really get into the mindset, especially because I was given direction by someone who had experienced these events first hand.

This photo is significant because this lovely gesture was conformation for me that I had done her justice and that is all I could have hoped for and more. When I first signed up for this project, I hoped to get out of it some development of my production skills. However, I feel that I have gained so much more!

 So, that draws the end to a very emotional and eye-opening week. Honestly couldn’t have asked for a better group of people to work with.
